Technical Sales Representative will be expected to travel the majority of the time to meet customers for the purpose of product demonstrations and selling products. Also responsible for attaining the sales targets and objectives within the sales territory. This is accomplished by completing a sales plan each year, identifying key prospects and customers, and then working on and reviewing the sales plan. The activity domain is in industrial research products: microscopy, metallography, metrology, and dedicated furniture.


  • Meeting the sales target for their territory on all products.
  • Visit customers to demonstrate products and discuss sales opportunities on a daily basis in the assigned territory.
  • Working closely with others to coordinate the overall selling efforts of the company.
  • Completing, working, reviewing, and improving a Sales Plan that includes an action plan for increasing sales to active customers and prospective customers, scheduling full coverage of the territory, maintaining a high level of in-field time, and continually improving product presentation skills and product knowledge.
  • Responding to all customer phone calls and emails in a timely manner.
  • Generating leads for the other sales representatives.
  • Completing timely quotations to customers working through the sales engineers and support staff.
  • Using the CRM package for completing daily tasks and management reporting.
  • Timely completion of all periodic sales reports, quotations, calendar events, and opportunity management.
  • Following up on all leads provided by the company.
  • Prospecting and cold calling to identify new business opportunities.


  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in business, marketing, engineering. 
  • At least 3 years of proven successful experience in equipment sales in the industrial area.
  • The ability to effectively communicate is essential to this position. The person must be able to effectively communicate with customers the importance of using the company's products.
  • The ability to give effective presentations to customers is required.
  • The position requires that a person be able to understand technical equipment and concepts so they will be able to understand the application of the product.
  • The person must know how to use word processing, spreadsheets, and computer presentation software. 
  • They must also be able to learn technical software applications that are used with the products.
  • The Technical Sales Representative – Industrial Microscopy Products will spend approximately 60/75% of their time travelling to meet with customers.
